London, UK – Plans for a new building by Zaha Hadid Architects have been unveiled. Set to be the UK’s first building of its type, the building will feature 25,000km² in floor space for public functions, interior circulation, storage, restroom facilities as well as a café. The building will also be Eco-friendly, with rainwater collection, inbuilt solar panels and pot plants everywhere. Hadid has closely overseen the project herself, and calls it the “most cliche squiggly spacey one I’ve done yet”. A 10,000km high feature wall is the most salient part of the design, and its impressive height will even block out the sun and plunge the entire Southern Hemisphere into eternal darkness. On this inconvenience for those living in the Southern Hemisphere, Hadid has commented saying that it was “a proportional design decision” and “would have looked really weird if the wall was any shorter”. Construction is set to begin in mid 2016.
