Bjarke Ingels’ Serpentine Pavilion has been confirmed to feature on the popular TV show The Great British Bake Off.
The show, which pits amateur bakers against each other, will use the pavilion as a site for a bread-based baking challenge. The challenge will see the entire pavilion go up in flames as it is used as a giant open wood-fire oven to bake the contestants’ dough.
Ingels, who is an avid baker himself, will also partake as a guest judge on the episode. “I love bread. I cannot wait to set fire to my pavilion because the bread will be worth it. In fact, the whole inspiration behind this design was my secret hope that I could appear on the show. And it worked! This is my best work yet. I just love bread.”
