Despite a complete absence of work, student Sherrie Lu was able to ace her crit by being really good at lying and understanding pluralistic ignorance.
“As anyone with working eyes and brain can see, here is my work,” said Lu, waving her hand across a collection of blank pieces of paper.
Lu went on to drop words like “threshold”, “methodology” and “tectonic” while convincingly pointing out specific imaginary parts of the non existent drawings.
“I also have several models here,” she continued, pointing at several empty plinths.
She ended the crit by “picking up” a model, to pass around the crowd.
The reviewers, not wanting to admit they couldn’t see any drawings or models, pretended to pass the imaginary model around and appeared impressed overall.
